Introduction
Hello, my name is Emma, I am 19 years old, and I have two brothers, one older one younger. I am an education major. I want to teach first or second grade. I used to work at a daycare and that's where I found my love for teaching. I love reading and writing, I do ceramics, and I won my school's art show with a ceramic atomic heart. I am currently a barista at a coffee shop, and I love the taste and smell of coffee. I have participated in many sports like cheerleading, figure skating, dance, soccer, volleyball, basketball and track. I play two instruments, never ask me to play them though because I'm not good. I Love Taylor Swift. Fun fact, I got Taylor Swift concert tickets for June which is the equivalent of getting accepted into Harvard which is a 2% acceptance rate.
Originally my major was psychology and I wanted to be a therapist, but I was a Panera Bread and this man who was either schizophrenic or on drugs pulled his pants down in front of me and then started talking to ghosts and the next day I changed my major. Now don't get me wrong, I am very passionate about becoming a teacher. I can't wait to be a teacher and have a classroom full of kids.
The most interesting thing about me is probably that I am from Alaska. I love nature and hiking in the summer. I love the beach, river, lakes, and all the wildlife and the nature my hometown has to offer. The purpose of the blog is to talk about my experiences and hopefully someone can relate and be inspired or read it for enjoyment. Sharing my writing is a very personal thing to be because growing up I was always told it was not my strongest subject. The thing is that I really enjoy writing. I have just never shared it outside of school. Recently I have been sharing my writing with my parents and I have gotten compliments from my professors.
Mental health is something I have always taken very seriously. I have experienced numerous other events that have shaped this belief. Throughout my high school career, I have had two of my close friends both attempt suicide. My first friend was in a coma for three days and had brain damage and memory loss. My other friend was hospitalized then went missing for a month. Now this introduction is still about me because all these experiences have shaped me into the person I am today and why I believe this project is so important. When my friends were in the hospital, I had witnessed the effects of their suicide attempts not only on their family but our community and school. This is why you should be kind to everyone because you never know what someone is going through. If you can just make the smallest difference in someone's life for just one day, then you know you're doing it right.
